Next to La Maquinista de Levante, the project redefines the boundary between the urban fabric and the mining landscape through a green corridor that follows the former railway route, transforming the barrier into a habitable threshold. Large planes of weathering steel —acting as screens that engage in dialogue with the horizon— unfold across the terrain, accommodating pathways, workshops, and gathering spaces. Their warm patina merges with the oxidized earth, evoking the site’s industrial memory. Between these planes, light reveals passages and ramps leading toward the historic complex, establishing a spatial sequence between the city and the machine. Steel —the material native to the municipality— becomes both language and landscape: an architecture that does not impose itself but rather emerges, reinterpreting the railway’s trace as a promenade, a refuge, and a horizon.
